About Jeffrey Aceves

As a Senior Scientist for the 3D Technologies Biofabrication team at Merck, I develop complex in vitro models to accelerate drug discovery and translational research. I utilize 3D bioprinting, microphysiological systems models, and multicellular models to design scalable, relevant models. My work builds upon the experiences I gained as a PhD candidate in Prof. Jennifer Lewis' Lab at Harvard University, where I led numerous projects ranging from: creating stem-cell derived kidney-on-chip models that exhibited increased drug uptake compared to immortalized cell lines, developing methods for the scalable differentiation of kidney organoids in stirred bioreactors, and assembling tissues from organoid building blocks to serve as platforms for drug discovery, modeling immune response, and future therapeutic applications.
