About Jeffrey Harris

While completing my J.D. Degree from Southwestern Law School, I worked as Law Clerk to a number of government and private institutions. I began as Research Assistant to Vice Dean of Southwestern Law School, writing speeches and memoranda regarding Climate Change and International Water and Oil Disputes. The next summer, I was offered a position as Law Clerk to Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, Public Integrity Division. Here I further perfected my skills of legal research, writing and investigation. With the supervision of the Deputy District Attorney, I drafted memoranda, subpoenas, and complaints that were used to prosecute numerous criminals. The following summer I worked for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ADR Unit. There I observed, studied and participated in mediations to resolve Title VII and California EEO disputes. As law clerk and co-mediator, I helped facilitate communications between parties in order to break impasses and further parties’ understanding of different perspectives and interests. During my final semester at Southwestern Law School, I worked part-time for the Bleau Fox law firm as well as for the U.S. Central Bankruptcy Court. At both positions, I was the law clerk who provided memos, summarizations of statutes and cases, and became well acquainted with the court's inner workings. Moreover, I constantly was attending court proceedings and learning firsthand how to handle court clerk work. Currently, I have studied for and passed the California Bar Exam (February 2011). Now, I reside in Kosrae (FSM), where I am the Staff Attorney and Legal Counsel to the Kosrae State Supreme Court. Here I have the opportunity of working directly for the Chief Justice in preparing memoranda, orders, and general court directions. As supervising attorney, I handle all Criminal and Civil cases for the court and ensure the flow of information as cases never stops, often seeing cases throughout the process from first filing to judgment Specialties: Skilled researcher in Westlaw and LexisNexis; Strong speaker; Hard-worker; Excellent at client relations.
