Background
About Jemma Basham
I am Head of Corporate research and evaluation in Companies House. I am an experienced senior leader and a Government social researcher. I have experience in leadership roles in both national and regional government with an evaluation specialism. I also have contributed theoretically and practically to the implementation of place based evaluation methodologies at the micro and macro level, boosting outcomes for disadvantaged communities. Key highlights include: 1. Specialist interest in evaluation with experience of process, impact and experimental methodologies. Life long fascination in the role of place and the physical environment, co-production and participatory research methods in addressing poverty and inequality. CPD trained in collaborative leadership including collaborative visioning, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. I have applied this in building bridges between groups and communities throughout my working life. Experienced in ‘set up phase’ projects and programmes. I was part of the set up team for the highly successful Renaissance programme at Yorkshire Forward, the research and best practice programme for the Academy for Sustainable Communities and the National Collaborative Outreach Project at the University of Leeds. As a national advisory group member for the ‘what works' centre TASO, I have an emerging academic publication plan with expertise in the application of the realist evaluation technique to widening participation activity in the Higher Education sector. I am committed to the development of a creative learning culture and to the possibility of addressing power dynamics in the work place to benefit the most disadvantaged. I have experience of where this kind of working culture leads individuals and groups to fresh vision, insight and breakthrough to entrenched societal problems.
