About Jen Danielson

I am an education entrepreneur.motivated most when I encounter innovative and novel learning strategies. I thrive on the challenge of leading a new team, building a new program, and making it work. I relish the opportunity to create new vision and design approaches to achieve it. I am comfortable with the risk involved in trying new things. As a strategic leader and team supervisor.I am on the executive leadership team for the school and PharmD Program. We oversee everything from recruitment/admissions to advising and student success, clinical experience, and career development. I oversee academic and student affairs for our professional degree program. I make strengths-based, critical decisions to move our school forward and foster a culture of innovative excellence. As an expert collaborator in interprofessional education (IPE), I am the academic lead for our IPE curriculum and a national leader in the field with multiple publications and international presentations. I work with leaders in health sciences to coordinate coursework in teamwork, simulation, and practice. I also lead facilities projects for shared learning and coursework on team-based diagnosis. An influential communicator and strategist, I work with regional leaders in pharmacy administration at multiple health systems to promote practice transformation and partnership in developing new clinical training sites. I coach preceptors and trouble shoot issues of learning environment, as well as manage capacity for student learning experiences. I am a mentor and pioneer-instrumental in implementing a mentoring program at UW School of Pharmacy. I also mentor other faculty at the local and national level. In recognition of this work, I was named Lynn and Geraldine Brady Endowed Professor. My scholarship has been recognized for its role in establishing Experiential Education as a scholarly field of inquiry and a viable career path in academia. My practice expertise is in diabetes education & prevention, which stems from my time in primary care and ambulatory endocrinology care. Empowering students and patients to manage diabetes care is one of my passions.
