About Jen Dewitt

I am a research and evaluation consultant, specialising in learning and engagement, particularly in informal settings. I am also a Senior Research Fellow at IOE (UCL's Faculty of Education and Society). From 2009-2019 I worked as a researcher on the ASPIRES and Enterprising Science projects, as part of the core team developing the concept of science capital and my particular responsibilities centred around the development of instruments to measure science capital in young people and adults. I am now also a researcher on the Making Spaces project at UCL. I have extensive experience of evaluation and research around learning in informal settings, with particular emphases on equity and science communication, and I have worked in a that capacity with a number of organisations, including the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum Group, Wellcome, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Graphic Science, Oxford Museum of Natural History, Europlanet Research Infrastructure, Tate and the Life Science Centre. Prior to moving to London for my PhD in science education, I worked for the Children’s Museum of Houston, the New York Botanical Garden and Scholastic.
