Background

About Jen Loomis

I am a social scientist who is happy to be conducting research that helps organizations make positive energy impacts in the world. My current focus is on building decarbonization, market transformation, demand response, and the role local governments can play in the clean energy transition. I have also studied workforce development, contractor engagement, and partnerships with community-based organizations. My passion is qualitative research. I'm privileged to have had hundreds of people share their personal experiences with me. I've heard from school teachers, passive house architects, building inspectors, and DOE's national lab scientists; each playing their own role in saving energy. I'm proud to tell their stories in a way that informs how we can nudge people toward a more energy-conscious lifestyle. I earned my PhD from Portland State University where I published on sustainability and was supported by the Institute for Sustainable Solutions. My Master's degree in Environmental Sociology is from Colorado State University where I focused on food systems and water resources. I have conducted research in the United States, Canada, El Salvador, and Peru.
