About Jen Mongeau

I started my registered nursing career in the neurological intensive care unit (NICU) as a graduate nurse. In my time on the NICU, I received daily education and insight from the brilliant neurosurgeons and nurses I worked with. I eventually took my experience from the NICU to people’s homes and worked for several fulfilling years as a hospice nurse. Helping patients transition from this life to the next transformed me personally and professionally. When my brother died at 42 from pancreatic cancer, I was no longer able to meet the emotional demands of my hospice role, so I left and entered the world of skilled nursing. Here, I learned to be compassionate and agile, and to fulfill whatever role was required of me with an open mind and heart. It was in this position that I started my love affair with process improvement and data analysis which led me to go back to school, where I graduated with my Master of Science in nursing in 2017. Then my life really changed as I transitioned from a clinical setting to a business setting. In 2015, I made the decision to move from Michigan to Portland, Oregon. There, I was given an opportunity to work for a tremendous Lean organization where I would come to find professional and personal growth, an innovative spirit, and a fierce love for learning like nothing I’d ever experienced before. In this position I received extensive Lean leadership training and experience that has made me into a conscientious and effective leader and passionate proponent for enriching the lives of employees and customers. In 2019, I left Portland and moved back home to care for my mother with Alzheimer’s. Upon moving back to MI, I took an executive position with an incredible organization, and in 2021, I obtained my second master’s degree in business and healthcare administration. In 2022, I became a doctoral student for the Health Administration and Health Policy program at Central Michigan University. I am totally obsessed with nature as medicine, meditation as medicine, movement as medicine, and food as medicine. I believe in simplifying and de-financializing U.S. healthcare, and in individually and collectively focusing on promoting wellness instead of treating sickness. I am also deeply rooted in a daily hatha yoga and meditation practice that has taught me to balance sukha with sthira, softness with stability. I am blessed to have an amazing husband, career, dogs (boxers), and life in general! I look forward to the loving and learning opportunities each day brings. Namaste.
