About Jenn Johnson

Jennifer Behrens specializes in privacy and policy analysis, security, governance, data analytics, information technology, AI risks as implicated by privacy and identity management solutions, and data governance. She led privacy efforts for multiple NIST cybersecurity identity pilot programs, oversees PCI, EI3PA, SOC II and HITRUST certifications, and guided organizations through security and privacy incidents. Jennifer is adept at working collaboratively across business units, including Legal, Sales, Product and Marketing, with a focus on continuous quality improvement and metrics. Jennifer's experience: • Partner, EVP of Privacy for Kuma - Leading the privacy and security consultancy for organizations and agencies, including privacy gap analyses, risk analyses, implementation of frameworks, compliance assessments (i.e, HIPAA), privacy engineering, training programs, vCISO and vCPO roles • Chief Privacy Officer of Verato - Oversee and lead organizational security and privacy program, including compliance, certifications/audits and improving security and privacy postures across all business units • Founded PrivacyIM to focus on supporting initiatives in their transition from a state of compliance to a commitment to privacy excellence in identity management • Identity Ecosystem Steering Group (IDESG) Plenary Chair (current) & Privacy Committee Chair (previous) • Credentialed as Certified Information Privacy Professional (US & G), as Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), as a Certified HIPAA Privacy Security Expert (CHPSE), and recognized by IAPP as a Fellow of Information Privacy • Was known as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s "Data Maven" for her expertise in data and information management for the local and state departments of social services Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Policy, Planning and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jennifer received her PhD through VCU’s Public Policy and Administration program in the Wilder School of Government. Her dissertation explored the association of leadership practices within the context of collaborative governance.
