About Jenna Burt

Over the course of my co-op degree, I was privileged to successfully complete six work terms (equates to 2 years) which served to diversify my resume; through which I have found multiple passions with respect to my ONAE degree. I have experienced two work terms in Safety at an Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority, and that has sparked my deep interest in Safety. I have also completed one work term that encompassed post-refit ship 3D modelling, planning work, and an exciting couple of months in Irving's shipyard on the Test & Trials team, inspecting and reporting. I did one work term in asset integrity for a major Oil & Gas operator, and I completed my fifth work term in the Marine Engineering department of the DFO/CCG, performing duties for the Small Craft Acquisition Program. For my sixth work term I held the position as the Naval Architect Co-op Student for BMT Canada, during which I gained experience working with requirements and project management as I conducted my efforts remotely from home due to COVID-19. As I heard from a number of professionals at SMC 2018 in Providence, RI, adaptability is key as an employee! So, I will continue to strive to obtain competencies to apply myself in any field and industry, making myself invaluable.
