About Jenna John

I’m an interdisciplinary creative, communicator, and systems thinker with a background in ecology, art and design, and science & technology studies. My work—whether hands-on in restored landscapes or strategic behind the scenes—has always centered around building more just, resilient, and interconnected communities. After several years in field-based ecological restoration across Chicago’s parks, preserves, and post-industrial landscapes, I’ve grown increasingly focused on the power of storytelling, team leadership, and community strategy to drive meaningful change. I currently serve on the board of an LGBTQ+ nonprofit where I created and lead our 9-person marketing committee—developing brand strategy, running digital campaigns, and fostering intergenerational belonging through intentional programming and communications. I bring a unique blend of creativity, scientific understanding, and people-centered design to everything I do. I care deeply about equity, climate justice, public engagement, and building thoughtful systems that move us forward—together. I’m currently exploring opportunities in marketing, communications, and program coordination where I can apply my skills to mission-driven work that makes an impact.
