About Jenna Mason

Jenna has over 12 years of tax advisory experience and specializes in corporate and environmental taxes. Jenna is currently leading the Carbon Tax team at KPMG South Africa Within the mergers and acquisitions stream, Jenna has advised on ground-breaking transactions, including B-BBEE ownership transactions, hedging and securitisation arrangements and group reorganisations. Jenna’s advice has included transaction structuring, implementation assistance, modelling optimal gearing levels and both buy-side and vendor due diligence reviewsJenna has extensive experience in advising clients in the dispute resolution and tax controversy arena, including preparing for income tax audits by Revenue authorities, responding to audit findings, preparation on objections and appeals and Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings. Jenna has also advised a wide-range of clients across industries to determine their exposure under the Carbon Tax Act, effective 1 June 2019. Jenna’s assistance has included, calculating carbon tax liabilities for clients, assessing the applicability of the various allowances and providing assurance over quantified carbon tax liabilities. Jenna has also advised clients on the tax implications of initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and of the acquisition and disposal of carbon tax offsets. Jenna’s experience covers a wide range of industries including Financial Services, Consumer Markets; Oil and Gas, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals and Media and Entertainment. Jenna’s client portfolio is diverse and has provided her with an opportunity to gain experience in various sectors. Jenna has two years of international experience. Whilst overseas with Deloitte Australia, Jenna assisted a number of multi-national clients with the following- International tax implications attendant upon cross-border M&A and post-acquisition integrations - Transfer pricing and thin capitalisation reviews for multinational organisations; and- Tax equalisation calculations.Jenna has presented and provided numerous tax workshops and trainings to clients.
