I serve as HIPAA Officer and Regulated Data Counsel for a global professional information company, advising on healthcare privacy, security, and regulated data risks across both internal operations and customer-facing products.In my role, I oversee HIPAA compliance for the company’s U.S. employee health plan and advise on HIPAA, HITECH, and related healthcare regulatory obligations applicable to products and services where customers may upload or process PHI. I partner closely with Legal, Privacy, Security, Product, and Engineering teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable, operational controls aligned with frameworks such as NIST 800‑53, FedRAMP, and state and international privacy laws.My work focuses on building defensible compliance programs, supporting audits and regulatory inquiries, advising on incident response and breach notification, and enabling product teams to responsibly innovate while meeting healthcare regulatory expectations.Areas of focus include HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, regulated data governance, risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, regulatory mapping, and cross‑functional compliance execution.
