About Jenna Sprowles

I am a dedicated and detail-oriented scientist with strong interpersonal and communication skills who values productive collaboration. I have over 13 years of experience in scientific research and a strong background in environmental consulting. During my time as a consultant with ICF, I have successfully collaborated with diverse teams to achieve project goals and ensured compliance with regulatory standards. I have developed my skills in conducting systematic literature reviews and risk assessments, hazard identification, project management, and toxicological technical leadership. In graduate school and my first postdoc position, I used rodent models to assess how perinatal chemical and drug exposures affected neurobehavioral outcomes and brain development in offspring. In my next postdoc, I worked with the Illinois Kids Development Study (IKIDS) and was focused on investigating whether early developmental exposure to environmental chemicals and other factors like stress are associated with impairments in cognitive and neurobehavioral outcomes in infants and young children. My diverse skill set includes data collection in human participants (e.g, interviewing participants and survey administration), developing statistical analysis plans, data cleaning and organization, statistical data analysis in SAS, literature reviews, manuscript synthesis and preparation, presenting to different types of audiences (small and large, experts and non-experts), training and mentoring junior colleagues and students, as well as animal behavioral testing, tissue collection, and molecular biology and electrophysiology techniques. Outside the lab/office, I enjoy traveling, reading, volunteering, cross-stitching, crocheting, and spending quality time with my family, friends, and pets.
