About Jennifer Bones

I have learned many things about teaching, and that many things are needed to be a successful as a future teacher. I have learned about teaching both in and outside of the classroom. I have been very fortunate to already have had some in-classroom experiences, as a substitute teacher in the Capital School District for the past 2 school years, as well as paraprofessional for the DAP Program during summer school. To teach, you must enjoy it. To become a teacher, you must be patient with every student and you must be patient with yourself. Each classroom has many types of learners, and many challenges. Keeping students engaged in learning, and on task is important. I have learned that many students need “learning breaks” in order to continue to stay motivated to learn. This allows the students time to recharge and continue to work. What I have learned about myself as a teacher is that I am very sure that I have chosen the right career path for me. I truly enjoy making connections with students and seeing their successes every day. I have also learned through my experience as the Site Coordinator for the YMCA after-school program at South Dover Elementary school, and substituting throughout the Capital Elementary Schools and Middle Schools, and my current level of coursework, that I have much yet to learn. Teaching requires using many strategies to reach each student. I am looking forward to what the future brings in my education career.
