About Jennifer Davey

I am an artist. I paint, write, and teach. Recently I relocated to Poulsbo, Washington, where I work and create from home. I am inspired by the universal ability of abstract forms to communicate directly and powerfully. An undiscovered love of writing appeared during the pandemic when I began writing weekly Friday Letters to my art email list. This regular letter on art + life continues to this day. My paintings have been exhibited in Denver and along the Front Range. I also have been a visiting artist to Emory and Henry College in Virginia and Laramie County Community College in Wyoming. In 2018 I was selected to study with renowned artist Enrique Martinez Celaya at Anderson Ranch under his 3 year painting mentorship program. Before moving to Washington, I spent over 10 years with the Clyfford Still Museum as a museum educator, visitor services team member, volunteer, member, and over-all super fan. Pulling open the doors on opening day in 2011 to reveal a forgotten painter and his extraordinary work taught me about the power of abstraction and art. The world at large knew little of Clyfford Still. In the course of ten years I witnessed the museum become a world class destination for art lovers. This taught me so much about the power of art, vision, and story. Hospitality and a love for the art lead the culture of this museum. Highlights working and volunteering for the Still included helping to catalog the paper records of this collection, attending multiple staff walk-throughs with world class curators David Anfam and Dean Sobel, leading wonder filled students through the galleries, creating the first audio guide with co-worker Andrew Cushen "Unprimed, Unrhymed: A poet and Painter Look at Clyfford Still" for visitors returning to the museum re-opening after shut down, and giving the first virtual online One Painting at a Time program at the start of the pandemic. I also gave multiple private tours and extensively studied Clyfford Still's paintings, drawings and writings during my time associated with the Clyfford Still Museum. My background also includes extensive work with The Cupboard, a locally owned kitchen store, in Ft Collins, Colorado. At this well-loved 50 year old family business, my roles included coffee buyer, cookbook buyer, staff development trainer, event planner, food demonstrator and social media director.
