About Jennifer Fegan
Dr. Fegan completed their PhD at the Ulster Business School, Ulster University in Northern Ireland. Their research interests are in the development of local and international food supply chains, and the marketing of premium Irish food. Dr. Fegan currently works as a Lecturer and Programme Director in the School of Business and Humanities, at Dundalk Institute of Technology teaching Human Resources, Business Management, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Information Systems. She is also an External Examiner for a national University. She has a keen interest in promoting and developing X-Border collaborations, and is one of the founding members of the DEX network. DEX (Dairy Evolution NeXt) is a unique community of researchers, industry and policy stakeholders across Ireland and the UK interested in exploring innovation, sustainability, value-addition and digitalisation across the dairy sector. In 2014 Dr. Fegan won a prestigious scholarship from DAERA (Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs) to complete a PhD examining international supply chains. She has a strong interest in agri-food businesses and in 2018 she joined the Regional Food Steering Committee based in Ballybay Food Hub in County Monaghan. Additionally, She has previously secured funding to develop and run a X-Border Women in Enterprise Programme. She has over 20 years' experience of working in both the private and public sector, and has worked in various economic and rural development agencies across the island of Ireland. As an academic supervisor on three programmes within DkIT, she continues to work extensively with industry whilst providing support to students during their placement modules. Throughout her career she has learnt to maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders from all relevant sectors. These have included: Invest NI, SEUPB, the Department of Social Welfare, FAS, DARD NI, the VEC and various private sector businesses on both sides of the Border.
