About Jennifer Freeman

I would like to introduce myself as an innovative, driven, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging, high pace environment. Since 2008, I have been employed with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, in the C700 Lifting and Handling Department (Portsmouth, VA), working in various working level and supervisory roles including apprentice, rigging mechanic, and management analyst. In 2019, I achieved the position and acquired the responsibilities as the Lifting and Handling Special Projects Division Head (Code 701S), directing and providing oversight for program improvement. At NNSY, I have been entrusted to lead organizational change, through facilitating and implementing process improvements, employee development initiatives, and ensuring strategic plans (internal and external to the organization) are successfully deployed and sustained. Often, I am privileged with many opportunities that allow me to mentor personnel, individually and within cross functional teams, of Engineers, Inspectors, Quality Assurance Specialists, Auditors, Instructors, Technicians, Journeymen, and Apprentices, which typically vary from entry level employees to senior leadership. I have initiated and led projects, which have resulted the establishment of program improvement products that has enhanced and progressed my department’s effectiveness. Having high standards for ownership and responsibility, is foundational for setting and achieving smart goals. I understand the value of continual self-improvement and development in order to maintain consistency in producing quality results and exceeding expectations. I believe in the power of team work, because it creates a platform for talent to be effectively utilized, as well as foster and expand new skills for individuals. With always having room for growth, I am open and always excited for any opportunities that are available for building skills and exposure to new experiences.
