About Jennifer Gilbert
As a graduate student in the departments of Genetics and Cell & Regenerative Biology at UW-Madison, my work focused on understanding the role of the Slit family of signaling ligands in pancreatic islet morphogenesis. My previous work at San Francisco State University involved characterizing three novel sperm-specific proteins and their potential role in sperm development and male fertility. Both of these projects gave me a solid understanding of development, with insights into human reproduction and pancreatic diseases. Because of this, I've developed a strong interest in translational work that will benefit human health.
