About Jennifer Klein

Jennifer Klein, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. Her teaching and research focuses primarily on sex offenders and the registry, cyber deviancy, stereotyping, and psych-law issues. Jennifer graduated Summa cum Laude from The University of Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Criminology and with a minor in History. She then entered graduate school and earned her Master of the Arts degree in 2011, also from The University of Florida in Criminology, Law and Society. While working on her doctorate at UF, she won a Graduate Student Teaching Award from the Dean of the Graduate School (2013) an honor that was only given to 18 graduate students out of a pool of roughly 1,500 who were eligible to be nominated. Jennifer was also awarded the annual Florida Society of Social Sciences Student Paper award for a piece that has now been published in the Justice Policy Journal. In the spring of 2014, Jennifer graduated with her Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Florida. Jennifer is actively engaged in several research projects for which she is collecting primary data. Additionally, she has multiple peer reviewed journal articles under review and is in the process of getting published. She has three articles in print and one in press. Jennifer continues her work focusing on sex offenders and perceptions of the sex offender registry for her dissertation, while working on multiple side research projects. These projects focus on finding the stereotypical sex offender profile, learning about the cyber deviancy of college students, examining the exoneree stigma associated with rapists, and the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Segments of these projects are under review and will be presented at national conferences in the near future.
