About Jennifer Oh

With over 10 years of teaching experience in ELA / ESL for K-12 and adults, I have developed an extensive array of skills in instruction, curriculum, and learning and development. My knowledge and passion have been shaped by my diverse background from when I was a substitute teacher, an English teacher in South Korea, a learning and development manager, to an ELA instructor and curriculum specialist for adult education.I am very knowledgeable of state and national content standards including the WIDA Standards, the College and Career Readiness Standards for both K-12 and adult education, and the English Language Proficiency Standards. I have created ELA content for vocational domains such as manufacturing, hospitality, and healthcare. In addition, I contributed in several state curricula projects to ensure standards are aligned with and integrated in lessons in classrooms. For example, my participation in the Standards-in-Action (SIA) 2.0, a project led by the American Institute of Research (AIR) and the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education, advanced my ability to evaluate curricula using research-based curriculum review tools. I collaborated with other states to pilot the SIA 2.0 training program, and through this training, it became an immediate success for my current employer, College of Southern Nevada (CSN). We strategically implemented new curricula, and as a result of our findings and implementation, our program became the top performing in the state going above state targets. Currently, I am serving my community and diverse populations as an ELA/Literacy instructor and curriculum specialist, and I’m attending graduate school at Purdue University to pursue my MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction. My mission is to continue adding value and making a difference by championing all learners for academic and professional success.
