About Jennifer Provost

I am a Canadian PhD student in Germany whose fieldwork and research focus on agriculture and livestock in West Africa. I am a multidisciplinary researcher, given my Master of Science in Agribusiness and my Bachelor of Arts in International Development. Most of my years of experience are in the Sahel, but I have also worked in sub-tropical Cameroon and Guatemala. I speak four languages (French, English, Spanish, German) and can also manage some Bambara and Pidgin English. I lived in Mali for a total of four years, completed two internships abroad as an extension worker, and led three research projects in Sub-Sahara Africa. My ongoing work looks into Malian and Cameroonian dairy markets, farmers' adaptability to shocks, distribution channels and value chains of local milk. My topics of interest and research also include: urban and peri-urban agriculture, food security, pastoralism, and entrepreneurship in the Global South.
