About Jennifer Scott

Hello. My name is Jennifer. I am currently a senior at Texas Woman’s University, completing my undergraduate degree in Biology and psychology. My passion for helping treat others extends far back into my early childhood. Although, I have known that the medical field was apart of the career path that I have wanted to take, there was still a sense of incompleteness. It was not until recently that I discovered the career of missionary doctors, that the vision of both my career and life plan became clear. I have been fortunate to witness firsthand the healthcare disparities that undeveloped countries are susceptible to. Because of lack of both modern medical knowledge and equipment, innocent lives are tremendously impacted and, some, are ended far too soon. Missionary doctors aim to eradicate these persistent issues by empowering developing countries with the correct skills that will also ameliorate the patients lives. For these reasons alone, my professional goal is to further pursue an academic career in Microbiology, which would ultimately be used for the research and ways of preventions of illnesses. Some of my skills and qualities include, but are not limited to, the ability to work with others, and to self manage when needed to, empathy, courage, understanding of patients’ concerns, commitment, and compassion. With these skills and my academic career, I hope to meet others who share the same passion, and together we can work collaboratively in improving the healthcare and personal lives of those who are suffering globally.
