Background
About Jennifer Teller
I have always had an interest in business. When I was a child I started my own cookie and candy business and always jumped at an opportunity to help with the local community rummage sale. It wasn't until that I fell into my first human resources job with no prior background or training. A kind of up and coming field that ended up being the perfect fit for me! My determination and excitement for HR motivated me to go all in and learn everything I could. Today, more than 20 years later, I am proud to have my SHRM-CP and be the Director of Human Resources for the Boise Co-op. There is not another profession I can imagine being part of. Part of what drives me is how much I enjoy helping others and human resources offers many opportunities to do just that, to include helping people find their careers through recruiting and hiring as well as helping employees and leadership to develop and grow within their careers through training and coaching. Additionally, and one of my favorites is employee relations. Developing and building solid working relationships with the team is very rewarding and I find that having a fun, fair and consistent approach works great. Furthermore, with my past insurance background I'm sure it's no surprise when I say, I also really enjoy benefits. My past training and licensing has provided me with the tools and knowledge to be able to not only make sure the benefits we offer are needed and solid but also ensure the employees fully understand what they have. I also really enjoy being challenged, and as we all know there is no shortage of that in human resources. As much as discipline and investigations aren't fun, they are challenging and offer an opportunity to provide guidance to both leaders and employees. It's rewarding to help them navigate through a tough time with the hopes of improvement on the other side, whether it be performance improvement, more training or new policies, processes, and/or procedures. This goes hand in hand with one of my other favorite aspects of my job, and that's process improvement. Finding new and creative ways to be more efficient and productive within the company as a whole, is very satisfying. What can I say, I love human resources and feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing people!"Great vision without great people is irrelevant."-Jim Collins
