About Jennifer Trone

I help individuals and organizations spread insights that influence and inspire people, launch new ventures and garner support, and strengthen their organizations internally. There are many issues I care about, but the bulk of my work in the nonprofit sector since 1995 has involved responding to systemic injustices with new ways of seeing and new solutions. I'm a strategic thinker who is also skilled at translating complex ideas into prose with broad appeal, honing messages that unite staff internally and shape public debate. I enjoy collaborating with a wide range of professionals and people with diverse life backgrounds. As a partner to executives and other senior leaders, I'm both steady and adaptable, up for a challenge, and with enough room to maneuver, highly creative. I'm a good person to have in your corner as a confidential advisor and can be trusted to carry out a mission. My current and past clients include the City of New York, Ford Foundation, Four Freedoms Fund, Impact Justice, Innocence Project, Magnum Photos Foundation, Open Society Foundations, TED, Vera Institute of Justice, Vital City, Weinberg Center for Elder Justice, and Yale University, as well as individual thought leaders. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Skylight, a human rights media organization. Prior to consulting, I spent more than a decade at the Vera Institute of Justice in senior staff positions, followed by a year advising the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. I began my career as a book editor, initially at Farrar, Straus & Giroux and later Pantheon Books.
