About Jennifer Walker

I've had 9 years of experience in Nursing. I have worked for 9 different hospitals in different aspects. A huge problem I have witnessed within the world of Surgery is the low retention rate of nurses, as well as the low satisfaction rate of nurses who stay. I hope to be forming some sort of operating room consulting firm in the future. The amount of disorganization, low employee retention, unsafe practices and micromanaging with no positive results to show is quite surprising. Evidence shows that it adversely affects patient care and outcomes. In addition, the burnout rate of doctors in this field is very high and the amount of stress in this environment can also have adverse effects on patient care. I hope to keep collecting data in my travels, and write up a plan that is backed up by empirical evidence from the science and business worlds. Getting a plan actually implemented within a hospital system will be the truly hard part!
