About Jenny Mincin

Jenny is an Associate Professor at the State University of New York Empire State University in the Graduate School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Master of Public Administration and Social Public Policy program. Prior to teaching in MPA program, she was Associate Professor in Human Services and Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program Coordinator. In addition, she teaches as an Adjunct Lecturer at Royal Roads University Graduate School of Humanitarian Studies and Disaster Management and Hunter College’s Human Rights Program, City University of New York. Jenny has over thirty years of experience in the government, non-governmental, and academic sectors. Her areas of specialty are crisis intervention, disaster human services, humanitarian aid, refugees, vulnerable/special needs populations, resiliency, and community rebuilding and recovery. Jenny continues to work in the field supporting non-profits, governments, and refugee resettlement with Irish Red Cross and Domestic Violence Resource. She is the recipient of the SUNY Empire University Altes Prize for Exemplary Community Service and Scholars Across the College. While at the International Rescue Committee, Jenny served as Deputy Director in the Women’s Protection and Empowerment Unit and Regional Director. Jenny worked with FEMA, Department of Homeland Security, HHS, and international, state and local governments. She was a former Director for Human Services at Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, Manager for City of New York including for the 9/11 Crisis Counseling program Project Liberty. She has worked on several local disasters and crises as well as federally declared disasters such as September 11, 2003 Blackout, and Hurricanes Katrina.
