Jenny Yuen (she/her) is an Toronto-based award-winning general assignment news reporter and web editor, who has been at the Toronto Sun since 2008, covering a wide variety of important stories from municipal, provincial and federal politics to crime, education and healthcare issues and everything in between. She is the author of Polyamorous, which does a deep-dive of polyamorous relationships across Canada and how people who identify as polyamorous face numerous challenges in their lives - from discrimination to race issues to not being to access the same rights in a social system set up for couples. Prior to that, she worked at NOW Magazine as a city beat reporter, freelanced for CBC Radio and has written for a number of different community publications. Raised in Newmarket, Ontario, Jenny loves stories from all walks of life. Everyone has a story. She wants to help people who can’t help themselves or don’t know how to access the information they need. Jenny can write clearly, expressing complex concepts in a way that’s understandable to clients, promote marketing campaigns and strategies by using creative storytelling and finding unique angles. She has strong interviewing and research skills to convey a thorough understanding of the big picture, telling compelling stories for proposals, working to tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and being used to working under pressure. Jenny also has sound news judgement and is not afraid to connect with communities using social media, knowing digital marketing will only continue to grow. She is always scouring newsfeeds for an interesting story. She has travelled the world and considers Hong Kong, New York and London her other homes. Jenny lives in Toronto with her family.
