About Jens Brinkmann

As a Senior eResearch Engagement Specialist at The University of Auckland, I apply my Mechanical Engineering PhD focusing on Technology and Collaboration to support researchers in using advanced digital tools and platforms. I have multiple years of experience in this role, where I help to facilitate, enable, and empower eResearch projects across various disciplines and domains. My passion for technology and collaboration stems from my previous academic and professional background in business and engineering, where I learned how to virtually assemble and optimize every component of a car using Siemens Teamcenter, and host virtual meetings with up to 50 participants. My PhD research explored how collaboration, especially across borders and time zones, can be enhanced by determining, using, and sharing Design Information Maturity, a concept that I developed and presented in various forums and publications. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to share my knowledge and expertise with others. I am a home automation, 3D printing, VR/AR enthusiast and used to be a professional photographer and videographer.
