About Jens Dalsgaard

I hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (Power) from Aalborg University, consistently ranked among the world’s leading universities. My career began with 14 years at an electric distribution company, where I gained experience across a diverse range of responsibilities, including maintenance planning, grid design, tender management, and implementing IT solutions for automatic meter reading, SCADA/DMS, energy trading, settlement systems, grid calculations, and GIS. Recognizing the critical role of high-quality grid and asset data in enabling data-driven operations and grid optimization, I specialized in specifying requirements, developing solutions, and driving organizational engagement in prioritizing this area. The solutions I contributed to became de facto standards in several Danish utility companies. After 14 years, I transitioned to consultancy, joining a privately owned firm where I provided strategic guidance and solutions to utilities. My experience on both sides of the procurement table proved invaluable, allowing me to navigate complex projects and foster meaningful change. My role evolved into helping utilities identify opportunities, rethink strategies, and adapt workflows. Notably, I served as Product Owner in the development of innovative solutions, including the replacement of ArcFM and the creation of a CIM Extractor. As Principal Business Process Consultant, I learned an essential lesson: software vendors often have a limited understanding of broader business processes or competing products. My ability to optimize processes across utility organizations, leveraging a variety of software solutions, became a key asset in delivering cross-functional consultancy. Currently, as Principal Product Owner, I lead the transition of Volue and our utility customers toward a modular, SaaS-based solution portfolio—an exciting journey poised to redefine industry standards. Additionally, as Project Owner, I oversee transformative projects at leading utilities adopting ArcGIS Utility Network-based grid and asset repositories, aligning closely with the SaaS evolution. I am open-minded, approachable, and take pride in clear communication, whether addressing senior stakeholders or operational teams.
