About Jeramie Lee

Hi, I am Jeramie. I am a new graduate who works in the AtkinsRealis Railway Team now. I just finished my BEng/MEng with a first honour. I have six months of summer placement experience: three months in WSP (at the end of my second year) and three months in AtkinsRealis (at the end of my third year). During the summer placement, I learnt to write many reports (including inspection reports and calculation reports using Excel). I also use MicroStation (for which I have a basic MicroStation certificate and am confident) to produce technical drawings. I have learnt a lot in both of my summer placements. I would like to share two main categories of my academic performance: group projects and individual research projects. For group projects, I am the leader of the first and final year's group. In my final year project, I successfully managed my group to provide a large-scale design of a railway exchange station (which my group placed second in the Integrated Project Competition 2023/24 led by WSP). For my individual research projects, I am extremely interested in structure dynamics. In my third-year research paper, I successfully determined that it is possible to generate energy through a vibration control system in a high-rise building, which is a technology to reduce the effects of winds and earthquakes. In my final year research paper, I have successfully shown my understanding of human-structure interaction effects on grandstands. Both of my research papers show an unexpectedly deep understanding of the topics. If I have a chance to join a research project, I would be really delighted to gain more experience in the research area (especially for structural dynamic topics). For volunteering, I have been a school rep for two years. I have improved the student's experience by providing ideas for the school to improve. In the process, I have learnt how to negotiate with others, how to manage people to achieve a common goal, etc. For another type of working experience, I worked in a factory for a day; I have learnt the importance of working effectively. Other than that, I have been a student tutor for two years, and I have learnt how to lead others to understand different knowledge. Also, I have been an open-day ambassador for a year, which has improved my social skills during the process. Lastly, I am really passionate about learning about other fields (such as law, programming, etc.)
