About Jeremy Cole

I am a non-profit executive on a mission to erase the concept of non-profit from our vocabulary and transform my title to social good executive. What do I mean? As a leader and team member for numerous critically important causes in my career - helping unhoused families, teaching English to new Americans, launching new programs for recently arrived refugees, advocating for children's rights around the world, leading a team to provide healthcare to those falling through the cracks - I have never woken up and thought to myself "let me do stuff that makes more non-profit in the world today." Instead, like so many of the amazing people I have worked with in my career, I wake up every day trying to think about how I can create a little more social good in the world - a little more justice, a little more peace, a little more prosperity for all. As someone with over two decades of experience in every level of social good work - leadership, fundraising, program management, strategic planning, succession planning, marketing and communications, and operations - I believe that the term non-profit defines our sector in a way that does not allow us to be what we are: businesses that create social good capital. As a social good business leader, I work to position organizations to transform their thinking from a mindset of scarcity and second-class charity work to a mindset of abundance and first-class social good business work. That means investing in people deeply as agents of social good transformation, advocating for more trust-based philanthropy, and building the required business infrastructure necessary to support social good work. I strive to join with so many across our world who are working to build our social good sector into one of beauty and excellence, and working to build a world where social good capital is seen as more important to the livelihoods of each of us than profit alone.
