About Jermaine Perier

Assistant Professor of Entomology in Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center (CMREC) and the Department of Agricultural Science and Plant Protection (AGSPP) at Mississippi State University, promoting good management practices through Extension and developing integrated pest management tools for the control of vegetable, fruit and nut pests for the growers of Mississippi. Extension interest includes but is not limited to; Coordination of state and regional training events for Extension agents, growers and gardeners of horticultural food crops on insect pest identification and management; Promotion of integrated pest management in commercial and garden crop production; Applied research based on the needs of the Mississippi stakeholders and Southeastern growers; Integration of ecological knowledge of insect pests of horticultural food crops against novel pest management strategies in greenhouse, and on-farm trial; Establishment of communication channels with Extension agents, growers and scientists through, extension articles, formal written bulletins and manuscript preparation; Engagement of community stakeholders through training, outreach, Extension, and mentorship opportunities. Research interest includes but is not limited to; Development of IPM and IRM programs for agricultural ecosystems; Identification and evaluation of alternative methods of crop pest management; Assessment of plant-insect ecosystems, including all interactions; Retention of insecticide efficacy; Evaluation of biopesticides and other biologicals for crop production use; Use of landscape manipulation for agricultural pest management; Comprehending tri-trophic and intraguild relationships amongst insects.
