About Jeroen Strating

I am a scientist with a broad theoretical and practical background at the interface of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and molecular virology. I am an independent and innovative initiator with an inquiring mind. In a team, I contribute critical thinking, broad subject knowledge and multidisciplinary insight, and a helpful attitude with a focus on solving problems. I can quickly familiarise myself with complex new subjects and techniques. In my current project, I am investigating how picornaviruses use membranes from the host cell to support the replication of their genome. These fundamental insights form a basis for the development of novel antiviral therapies. In my professional past, I have gained a broad experience in leading and conducting research, and in teaching.
