About Jerone Stoner

Hello! My name is Jerone Tyler Stoner, but please feel free to call me JT. My primary career goal is to improve the sexual health of LGBT individuals, with specific attention to decreasing the incidence and prevalence of HIV and other STIs through developing LGBT-inclusive sexual health education, increasing knowledge and access to PrEP and other prevention services, and conducting contact tracing in order to identify new positive cases, get them linked to care, and investigate their social networks. My secondary research interests include tackling ancillary issues that facilitate HIV/STI infections such as drug and alcohol misuse, mental health disorders, homelessness, and stigma/human rights violations related to being a sexual and/or gender minority.I am currently a Public Health Administrator & HIV/STI Program Manager at the Allegheny County Health Department (see job responsibilities below).I previously served as a Project Manager/Coordinator at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, working specifically on AIDS Free Pittsburgh (AFP). AFP is a public health initiative to reduce new cases of HIV and support people living with HIV in Allegheny County. My role was largely to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities designed to increase access to, uptake of, and adherence to biomedical HIV prevention services in Allegheny County, PA.I also interned at Allies for Health + Wellbeing (formerly the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force), where I developed a healthy relationships- and safer sex practices-focused educational outreach program for young men. Additionally, I provided HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI prevention counseling and testing services. Lastly, I provided education about PrEP, assisted clients in deciding whether PrEP is a good option for them, and helped troubleshoot ways to increase and maintain adherence to PrEP.
