About Jerre Manarolla

I am an International Development Economist with wide-ranging experience in economic development policy, program/project management and export business development in developing countries: twelve years in East, West and Southern Africa and seven years in Central and South America, with numerous shorter-term assignments in South and Southeast Asia. Manage complex programs to promote private sector competitiveness through policy reform (e.g. macroeconomic stability, fiscal policy, trade policy, investment promotion, financial sector restructuring, energy, telecommunications, labor) and export business development (e.g. marketing and value chain development for non-traditional agricultural exports). Possess broad range of economic policy & governance skills and the ability to build a strategic vision. Lead multicultural teams of technical experts and admin staff through strong team building and interpersonal skills. Develop synergy among host government, civil society and business communities as well as multilateral and bilateral donor officials to maximize program results. Native language English and fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Career Goal: In addition to a continuing interest in donor-funded development work, I am looking for opportunities to work for a US private sector firm (or NGO) wanting to expand its activities in Africa or Latin America. I am also interested in oil/gas-related firms and those in mobile banking. I have recent work experience in countries with important oil/gas production as well as extensive study of the political economy of such countries. My extensive experience dealing with senior officials from host country governments, donor agencies and the business community could be of special interest to such firms. Prefer working overseas.
