About Jerred Workun

Grew up in small-town Alberta and, through school, ended up where most blue-collar kids who go into engineering do — mining. I had no idea how deeply I’d fall in love with breaking production records with the biggest equipment in the world. After years on the front line of execution mining — from short-range planning to dispatch to leading improvement initiatives — I learned that the real gains don’t come from new software, a perfectly timed sequence, or another spreadsheet. They come from people. The best ideas still start in the field: standing on a berm with a supervisor, riding shotgun with an operator, or talking shop in the truck on the commute. That’s where you spot the small things that make a big difference. Today, I work with mine sites globally to bridge the gap between planning and execution. Through short-interval control, clear communication, and data that actually helps crews make better decisions, we’ve helped operations safely increase productivity by 5–20% in under six months. I believe in simple tools, honest conversations, and doing what you say you’ll do. That’s how you earn trust — and that’s what drives lasting change in mining. I want to leave this industry better than I entered it. As experience leaves and a new generation steps in, we can’t rely on how things have always been done — we need to change the way we do business.
