About Jerrold Stevens

Like many folks in the professional audio industry, I was a musician dreaming of the big recording contract and going on the world tour playing arenas and stadiums, and like all of us in the industry, we figured out that we might want to eat well and pay the bills! The turning point for me was the man who owned the music store I worked for that introduced me to the science of audio and system design. I was immediately hooked and I've never looked back. My friend and employer bought one of the original Compaq "suitcase" computers and one of the first sound system modeling applications, JBL CADP v.1, and I started to learn. I've been learning ever since and it opened a whole new career path for me as a design build audio systems contractor, an independent sales rep, an independent system designer and project manager, and I eventually became electro-acoustics and AV consultant and project manager with one of the most recognized acoustics and AV systems consulting firms in the US. I've worked on projects around the world including the Burj Khalifa (world's tallest building) in Dubai, UAE, the NYNY Casino Resort, The Venetian and Palazzo Casino Resorts in Las Vegas, Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY, The Sports Hub Stadium in Singapore and many more. One day my employer at the consulting firm asked me to assist him with teaching a class in sound reinforcement design at NSCA. Through that experience, I discovered that I have an aptitude and passion for teaching complex subjects in clear, logical ways and began a successful parallel career teaching at NSCA, InfoComm, ISE and PALME shows around the world. This led to another specialty writing technical articles for trade magazines including Sound & Communications, ProAV Magazine, Live Sound International and ProSoundWeb. I can't wait to see what's next!
