About Jerry Allison

Growing up in a blue-collar family, my work experience began at the age of twelve, assisting my father and quickly learning the electrical trade. By sixteen, I was wiring houses independently. After earning a bachelor's degree in business, I returned to the family electrical and construction business for a few years before my wife and I felt called to pastoral ministry. During our ministry, we moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I founded my own residential electrical company. As a licensed electrician, I designed and installed electrical systems for homes ranging from a few thousand to over ten thousand square feet, specializing in residential electrical repair. After successfully running my business for over a decade, I pursued my dream of becoming a teacher in 2008. I taught middle school for five years and high school chemistry for a couple of years before transitioning to industrial maintenance and mechatronics instruction. In this role, I have had the honor of guiding many young people into promising careers in the electrical and mechatronics trades, as well as advanced manufacturing and careers in our military. In 2020, I became the work-based learning coordinator. In this role, I mentor and supervise students in placements ranging from internships at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, Cirrus Aircraft, and DENSO Manufacturing, to a variety of local businesses. I help students develop professional portfolios designed to pave the way for successful careers.
