About Jerry Cunningham

I am a rising Junior at The University of Alabama majoring Finance and minoring in Computer Tech and Applications. My field of study is something that has evolved over time based on different experiences that I have had. I first became interested in the stock market after being assigned a project in high school focused on insider trading. Learning about how the markets worked and what factors impact the fluctuation of stocks. What I found even more intriguing was the concept of how all the information is organized and shared throughout the world within minutes, even seconds. I want to be a part of the industry that keeps the finance world going. I will be the person behind the scenes that understands the organizations, the people, and the technology and how to help companies maximize the relationships between these things. I would consider myself an introvert who has extrovert qualities. I am very independent and self motivated. I have no problems spending quiet time alone doing things I enjoy like reading or playing golf. I also enjoy being around diverse individuals and am open to hearing other’s perspectives and opinions without being judgmental. I also enjoy being on a team and working with individuals to reach a common goal. With years of team sports in my background, as a player and coach, I am able to play my position by taking direction and am also able to take charge when needed. I have become an avid golf player and try to get out on the course as often as I can. I am no Rory McIlroy, and aim to improve my skills each time I hit the course. I am glad that I have come to enjoy golf as I know that the golf course is sometimes a substitute for the board room. I look forward to years of having brainstorming meetings on the golf course with my future colleagues. As I focus on entering my Junior year at UA, I am also beginning to explore internship opportunities.
