About Jerry Kolins

Dr. Jerry Kolins first joined Palomar Health in 1977 as a surgical pathologist after completing his residencies in anatomic pathology and neuropathology at Massachusetts General Hospital and in clinical pathology at the National Institutes of Health. He is Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Immunohematology/Blood Banking. He currently holds dual positions as Chief Quality Officer for Palomar Health and the Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory. In 1991 Dr. Kolins assumed the role of Medical Director of Laboratories at Palomar Health. In 1998 he served as Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer of the American Red Cross Blood Services, San Diego Division. With a change of senior leadership at Palomar Health in 2018, Dr. Kolins assumed the responsibility of Chief Quality Officer (CQO). On January 4, 2019 the CQO position was eliminated and Dr. Kolins now continues his work as Medical Director, Palomar Health Laboratories. Dr. Kolins was Chief of Staff at Palomar Medical Center from 1994-1996. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Organization Management (MAOM) in 1995 and was certified by the American Board of Medical Management in 1996. He was inducted into the American College of Healthcare Executives as a Fellow (FACHE) and in 2012 was honored as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). In 2014 Dr. Kolins was recognized as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the American Association of Physician Leadership. Jerry is proud to support The Elizabeth Hospice and served on its Board of Directors from 1996-2006 and as Chairman of the Board in 2006. He is also a member of the National Council of the University Music Society at the University of Michigan.
