About Jess Ahrens

With a passion for development and experience in the workplace in a wide variety of roles, I pride myself in being a productive and positive asset to those that I work with.My role at Skedulo has let me explore and hone my skills for a myriad of modern technologies across many applications. My work has involved a lot of frontend and Node.js backend development using a range of technologies, my preferences of course being Typescript and React. I've also worked closely with our mobile development team and have experience building applications for both Android and iOS using C# and Xamarin. In my recent years at Skedulo, my most recent endeavours have led me to functional programming concepts using Scala and Cats.IO/Effect for back end development. This also has involved a wide range of AWS services in which I feel proficient in using. More generally I feel proficient with modern backend development practices/technologies, including but not limited too: Docker, Kubernetes, DIY DevOps, Continuous Delivery, RDBMS Architecture, Event Sourcing Architecture and Service Ownership. I believe any engineer worth their salt should strive to be able to work autonomously at all levels in the stack.Ultimately, my passion lies in full-stack development/systems development.
