About Jess Alschuler

As a recent aerospace engineering graduate with a minor in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, my future consists of looking for opportunities that allow me to further develop my technical skills and apply them to real world applications. I intend to specialize in remote sensing with applications to sustainability, as I have grown passionate about environmental issues and the use of remote sensing technology in studying the planet. Outside of the classroom, I have further been able to develop my skills as an engineer and a team member through my involvement in Her Campus, CU Student Government, and CU Hyperloop. Through CU Hyperloop, I have been able to develop skills in mathematical modeling, Solidworks, and manufacturing processes by developing a tunnel boring machine to compete in the international Not-A-Boring Competition. As a team lead for this club, I have also gotten the opportunity to work with other team leads and help the newer members of the team. Through Her Campus, a woman's magazine, I have gotten to work on my writing skills and critical thinking ability as I write articles about current events, the influence of popular culture on our lives, and personal experiences. Finally, through my work in CU Student Government, I have gotten to foster my passion for sustainability and improve my research and writing skills by not only voting on legislation, but also writing and passing a resolution calling on CU to divest funds from fossil fuels.
