As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, I represent the United States in criminal and civil appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and in post-conviction proceedings before the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. I have over 18 years of appellate experience, including as both a practitioner and a judge. I am Board-certified as a specialist in appellate practice by the North Carolina State Bar. And I am admitted to practice in Colorado, North Carolina, DC, and multiple federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.My background includes serving as:•an Administrative Appeals Judge at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where I reviewed rulings by Administrative Law Judges and issued final agency decisions in Medicare appeals; •a staff attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, where I conducted extensive research and drafted opinions and orders for the judges;•counsel to state agencies and commissions, where I advised on complex legal issues and handled administrative hearings; and •a state prosecutor responsible for criminal appeals and post-conviction proceedings in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.I am passionate about upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice, and advancing the public interest. I have a proven track record of success in handling challenging appellate cases, involving issues such as constitutional law, statutory interpretation, evidence, sentencing, and habeas corpus.
