About Jess Scott

I am head of the DCP Faculty at Birchwood Community High School. I am passionate about raising the profile of creative subjects: Drama, Dance, Music, Engineering, Food, Art and Textiles. I love the challenge of managing such a varied and diverse team of subjects. I am passionate about raising awareness of these subjects in school and showing the community in school and the wider community how enriching these subjects are to students. I am involved with Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival and love working with outside organisations that can inspire our students to want to be more. I have passed my NPQML and am currently studying for my NPQSL both have given me the knowledge and tools to support my team in my current position as Head of Faculty. Every year I put on a an annual school musical which is both challenging and rewarding in a school setting. I am passionate about changing the narrative for young people who are not as fortunate as others and strive to use the arts and creative subjects to enable students to steer a different path and aspire to do and be more.
