About Jess Simpson

When I was a child, I used films and TV shows as a form of escapism, but as I grew older, I started to more actively consume media and began to recognise things and patterns that most of my friends weren't. This is what made me fall in love with the behind the scenes of TV shows - seeing how colour was used as a signifier, how writing motifs were used, and costumes, and music. It was ultimately this love that led me to move miles from Manchester, England to Eugene, Oregon. I am currently a student at the University of Oregon, majoring in Cinema Studies and minoring in Philosophy. I am part of multiple organisations on campus, such as the International Cultures and Services Program, and the University Film Organization. I also work as part of the First Year Experience Program as a FIG Assistant, and with the Theatre Arts department as their Production Photographer.
