About Jesse Berends

At a young age I already was drawn to engineering. I became a member of the sea scouts at the age of ten, where I am still an active member today. Here I came in contact with boats and the maintenance of them. I can still remember how I was told not to look at the blue light of the welding that was going on around me at that time. Since then my interest in engineering within the maritime sector has grown with the result of becoming a Naval Architect myself a few years ago. I worked on many concept designs, from cruise ships to research vessels, from “house boats” to semi-submersibles. While working I became more and more interested in the general design of the ships. Designing them to be as efficient as possible for the client, the people on board and the shipyard, while always keeping in mind that design follow its function.
