About Jesse Flores

My expertise is in fund development, and government and nonprofit management. In my first job after graduate school I joined a struggling nonprofit housing organization with in project funds. As the Director of Development I increased funding sources to almost and at departure, we built 55 homes per year. I wanted to try something different, so I left San Antonio, traveled and visited 19 countries and then moved to New York City. I joined a stock broker training program at an investment bank, however, I missed working with the mission of changing lives and I returned to the nonprofit field. I consider myself fortunate to have met and worked with the Father of Modern Management himself, Mr. Peter Drucker, at the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Non-profit Management, where I served as Director of Development and Communications. After that job I took time to travel in Southeast Asia, India and Nepal, and learned to play the sitar. I then spent 12 years working in various positions of increasing responsibility for two Brooklyn Borough President’s and their affiliated nonprofit organizations. I am now working in development in higher education at The New School. Separately, I’ve co-authored a book about wire jewelry techniques and gemstones published internationally by Random House. On my spare time I’ve been learning to play guitar, learning Japanese, and enjoying being a new daddy.
