About Jesse Gavin

I am proud to be the Well-Being Director for Baylor College of Medicine and the award-winning BCM BeWell program. I have served in wellness for 15 years. I began my junior year in the physical therapy program but soon realized that I would rather prevent injuries and chronic diseases than treat them. I am one of the lucky few that got into their field during college and actually stayed in the same field once I got my degree. For myself, I would say stress management is what I try to work on each day. I enjoy philosophy and practice self-reflection on a regular basis. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you turn the world down a couple of notches. I have worked in gyms as a personal trainer and created programs that have lowered health care costs for large companies. I have met a lot of interesting, intelligent, and inspiring people along the way so far and I know there is even more to come. My favorite part about wellness is that it seems so simple to some but like a foreign language to others. It is a constant battle but in my opinion, we are slowly winning. Currently, in addition to being a part of the Baylor family, I am also a student at UTHealth School of Public Health. I am working towards getting a Doctor of Public Health degree to further aid our global employees. My focus is on reducing the 40-hour work week to increase the health and well-being of our workforce.
