About Jesse Han

Passionate about achieving a just, sustainable and safe world, Jesse Han (he/him) is always looking for ways to inspire and improve the world around him. As a result, Jesse is on a mission to utilize his dynamic skills and experiences of social innovation, civic engagement, research and art to address social and environmental issues through policies and initiatives that improve the livelihoods of all people and ensure a safer, sustainable and justice future for all generations. Jesse is a climate and social policy researcher and activist based in Toronto, Canada. Jesse graduated from the University of Toronto in 2022 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a double minor in International Development Studies (IDS) and Geographic Information Science (GIS). His undergraduate research focused on three distinct topics in Toronto:(1) urban agriculture & food security;(2) homelessness & shelters during COVID-19; and (3) cycling safety & bike infrastructure. Jesse is a documentary, portrait, and landscape photographer who seeks to capture moments that inspire emotion and portray people and the world in his eyes. He is often found documenting protests or events that address systemic issues. Currently, Jesse has been working to document Toronto's homeless and housing crisis, starting with the encampment evictions during Summer 2021. During his travels, Jesse takes portraits and landscape photos of the wonderful people and nature that he encounters. Jesse is also a passionate cook that continues to explore ways to achieve sustainable methodologies for cooking that produce minimal waste. He has worked with a sustainable seasonal kitchen, iQ Food Co. as a Team Leader, where he pushed his Yorkdale team to minimize food waste, consistently deliver high-quality foods and drinks and improve work systems that increased efficiency and customer satisfaction.
