Background
About Jesse Jarvis
From the assembly line to the halls of Parliament, my path has been shaped by a deep belief in community-driven change. I began my journey in Detroit's District 6, where I worked alongside residents and city leaders to pass ordinances protecting environmental quality. This grassroots foundation quickly evolved into statewide mobilization—advocating for reproductive freedoms, voter accessibility, and a livable wage. I stepped into my first management role with the League of Conservation Voters Michigan, recruiting and empowering canvassers to help re-elect Governor Whitmer. This experience solidified my strengths in strategic organizing, team leadership, and connecting values to action. Through partnerships with impactful community-based organizations like Focus: HOPE and Urban Neighborhood Initiatives, I grew as a project manager and social fundraiser—building sustainable networks and sparking creative campaigns with lasting impact. Most recently, I brought this energy to the Canadian Parliament, working in the office of the Honourable Dr. Hedy Fry. I supported the advancement of human rights legislation, monitored committee proceedings, responded to constituents, and ensured our office was informed and responsive to all sides of the political aisle. After arriving in Durham to pursue my Masters of Public Policy, I began refining my quantitative and qualitative research skills at Duke University to support social and environmental policy advocacy. Interning at the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management during my graduate education exposed me to the rigors of budget development and execution. This position allowed me to support the standardization and improvement of rulemaking across the state of North Carolina. Before my career in policy and advocacy, I worked in the automotive sector as an electrical technician, contributing to cutting-edge sustainability projects including the Mustang Mach-E and E-Hummer. I bring precision, adaptability, and the ability to build—from wiring harnesses to grassroots campaigns. I’m driven by one mission: building equitable, sustainable societies through collaborative leadership, rigorous research, and strategic development. Let’s connect and see how we can transform ideas into action.
